When Google CEO Eric Schmidt spoke that the United States Senate hearings back in September, he was asked if the company’s methods could be a bit more transparent. The CEO of the search engine titan replied “There is a limit to the amount of transparency – it is proprietary and if it was more open it would be heavily gamed”. He did however then state that “we can do a better job describing our changes”. Perhaps the most recent evidence of the “better job” came last week as Matt Cutts stated “Weather report: expect some Panda-related flux in the next few weeks, but will have less impact than previous updates”. This statement is of course referring to the Panda update that was first launched in early spring of 2011.

This new 3D view is available to users that have the Google Earth plug-in installed on their computer. This not only adds enhanced video and viewing capabilities, but provides a “practice run” for drivers that are unfamiliar with how to get to specific destinations, and are unfamiliar with the area.

WebiMax launched WebiMax scams as an online resource to provide consumers with necessary information regarding the safety of search engine optimization. Since there is no specific regulation for the SEO industry, some firms may take advantage of their client to falsely achieve higher search engine ranking. Sometimes it is challenging to determine if the firm is practicing “black-hat” (unethical) or “white-hat” (ethics) optimization. The negative results of being victimized of black-hat optimization are detrimental to the consumer’s online presence, as search engines (including Google) typically send them to the last page of their search results.

Facebook rolled out several updates to their social media platform on Wednesday. This came one day earlier than expected, as the social media titan was likely to make the announcements today at the F8 summit in San Francisco. The new updates have made users more dissatisfied than impressed.

Kenneth C. Wisnefski, founder and CEO of WebiMax, the #1 rated online advertising and search engine optimization firm in the United States (by TopSeos.com), is a well-regarded expert in social media. Wisnefski has followed the situation closely and states “Facebook is trying to do so much right now to fix a problem that doesn’t need to be fixed. I believe the new features have overloaded users and the majority of them are dissatisfied with the changes”.

Google+ was launched earlier this week and is the first real threat to take “social media market share” away from Facebook. Google+ functions include video chat, integrated search, and “hangout”, all of which are features that Facebook lacks.

“It seems Facebook has announced their updates to take the light away from Google, who has owned the media this week with the launch of Google+ in addition to CEO Eric Schmidt’s antitrust hearings on Capitol Hill”, states Wisnefski. “Facebook users feel overwhelmed with the amount of new features including a real-time scrolling list of Friends updates (comparable to Google+ ‘circles’), enhanced News Feed (information overload), and the ability to create their own Facebook Newspaper”, concludes Wisnefski.

The 5.8 magnitude earthquake of Mineral, VA (8/23/11) luckily only posted staggering figures in one area; social media. It produced more than 40,000 earthquake related tweets on Twitter, was discussed in over 3 million Facebook accounts, and caused Twitter to hit 5,000 tweets per second. Kenneth C. Wisnefski, founder and CEO of WebiMax, the nation’s leading search engine optimization and social media marketing firm announced that these numbers “are not surprising”, and further states “as cellular networks were clogged for more than 20 minutes, people turned to social media platforms to communicate”.

When natural disasters strike, social media is at its finest hour. 2011 has provided more than enough examples why social media is the new mass-communication and effective communications method.

“At the time of the earthquake, people all over the east coast ran to Facebook and Twitter to connect with loved ones, and discuss its impact in their own town”, discusses Wisnefski, an Entrepreneur who founded WebiMax in 2008. “Not only were there 5,000 tweets per second on Twitter, Facebook fan pages including ‘I survived the earthquake of 8/23/11 reached 45,000 members. These numbers should not surprise any of us, as we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the uses of social media this year, including in the international conflicts of Egypt and Libya”.

Cellular phone outages were also substantial in the ensuing moments after the earthquake, including most significantly affected AT&T and Verizon Wireless. The inability to reach out to family members also prompted the dramatic use of social media, as people posted ‘are you ok?’ on the wall of their family and friends.

“Not once did Twitter become ‘over capacity’ during the earthquake. It seems quite clear that the capabilities and mass-reach that social media gives us is much more effective than traditional methods, including mobile telecommunications”, concludes Wisnefski.

Social Media is a tremendous tool that can be utilized in many beneficial ways, for businesses, institutions, and individuals. Recently, however, its misuse has led to an increased risk of “flash mobs” in and throughout the city of Philadelphia, PA. Kenneth C. Wisnefski, internet-security expert, and founder and CEO of WebiMax, the nation’s #1 rated search engine optimization firm announced how the misuse of social media platforms can have dangerous effects.

Teenagers in the city of Philadelphia have orchestrated “flash mobs”, a massive gathering of individuals at a commonplace, usually to conduct some sort of destructive behavior. How do the masses orchestrate the crowd? Through the use of social media platforms Facebook and Twitter. This is clearly an outright abuse of the fundamentals of social media, as it is being misused to create teenage violence.

“This is not what social media was designed to accomplish”, states Ken Wisnefski, who was recently interviewed on FOX News discussing cyber security. “At WebiMax, we build social media campaigns for our clients to increase their brand awareness and develop additional revenue streams. The organizing of ‘flash mobs’ in Philadelphia demonstrates the capabilities of the misuse of one of the most powerful mass-communications tools in the 21st century”.

The flash mobs have caused Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter (D) to institute a curfew for the city’s citizens under the age of 18. The curfew has had mixed reviews, with the Mayor responding “there is no excuse for young people being out so late at night, making bad decisions, and literally assaulting other citizens”.

“There is no regulation on social media, thus it is impossible to monitor all that is said (and organized) online”, states Wisnefski. “Social media plays an integral role in our lives and

continues to demonstrate its capabilities on national scales. The United Kingdom has also experienced organized flash mobs in London, with organized crowds rioting and looting in the city”.

A possible solution for anti-flash mob violence is constructing a monitoring team that closely watches social media, looking for these events, and preventing them before they occur.

“We’re not likely to have an organizer send a mass-text message or phone calls to their network of 500+ individuals, therefore closely monitoring social media sites and looking for key indicators for an organized flash-mob may be an effective solution. This is another example of the power of social media, just in a negative connotation”, concludes Wisnefski.
